File these under "cute" - i grow them for the joy they bring. These creamy white pumpkins 2-3" in diameter will fit in the palm of your hands. They'd make a good base for miniature dried flower arrangements. Best to plant them in a place where the vines can spread. Yield is about 8-10 pumpkins per plant. The flesh is edible and they can store 12-16 months. Wait and plant them in June so they are ready to harvest in late September. Harvest them early for a more pure white coloring - as they ripen they will become more cream in color.

    Planting Instructions

    SOWING:

    Transplant: Direct sow or transplant in late spring when soil warms up. For transplants, start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks after the last frost date. Try to get the plants into the ground no later than the summer solstice. 

    Sow seeds 1″ deep. Sow 3 seeds in each spot you want a plant to grow and thin to the strongest plant. 

    Days to Germination: Germinates in 7-14 days at 68-95°F (25-35°C)

    GROWING:

    Light Preference: Full Sun

    Plant Height:    vines are typically 8-10 feet long

    Plant Spacing: Space plants at a minimum of 36-48″ apart, and space rows of plants 48-72″ apart.

    Soil requirements: Ideal pH: 6.0-6.8. These plants need lots of food. Choose a sunny spot with fertile, well-draining soil. Mix in a generous quantity of finished compost and/or composted manure. 

    Pinching: No

    Flower Support: Not needed, can be trellised

    Days to Maturity: 95 days 

    HARVEST AND VASE LIFE:

    Yield: 8-10 pumpkins per vine

    Harvest Fresh: Vines start to yellow and stems begin to dry indicating that pumpkin is ready to harvest. Harvest before full maturity for best pure white color.

    Expected Vase Life: Stores for 12-16 months in cool dark place
